The
school year absolutely flew by, and we are sad to see it end, but
we are looking forward to next year. The students enjoyed our educational
programs that varied from singing at River Garden to putting on
a play at the model seder. Although we were crunched for time during
some of the holidays, we were able to teach all holidays to our
students to broaden their knowledge of the Jewish calendar.
This
year was the first year that we began to teach Hebrew reading to
the first grade class, something that is usually not done in most
Sunday schools, however, our outcome was unexpectedly great and
the students are already on chapter eight of their books. When
they learned to read Hebrew, it was a stress free environment and
the students learned with games and fun, which helped them want
to continue to learn and begged us teachers to read every week.
We want to welcome the Klein family, Rose, Mendel, and Ari, who
will be officially joining the religious school next year after
visiting and participating in school in the final weeks. We look
forward to having them join our school!
We want to thank the Board
and Education Committee for all the help and support that they
gave us during the year. We specially want to thank Morah Manya,
who dedicated hours upon hours to the school, in addition to her
voluntary position as a teacher every week.
We also want to thank
Gail Baron for another year of wonderful service to the school;
she has volunteered with many students and has made a great impact
on their Hebrew education. In addition to Gail, Helene Katz has
been a new addition to our volunteer staff this school year. She
has also helped with the younger classes. Thank you, Helene. We
look forward to having them both as volunteers next year!
Thank
you Morah Shoshanah for teaching the older students the deeper
meaning behind holidays and Jewish subjects and taking them to
a higher level of understanding. We look forward to seeing her
next year!
We are sad to lose our first grade teacher, Morah Aviela,
next year when she leaves for the University of Florida. Mazel
Tov on reaching our goal of teaching the first grade how to read
Hebrew. Have a great summer!
